Erasmus+ Mobility at Central Michigan University

My Erasmus+ teaching mobility at Central Michigan University, undertaken as a Professor of Guitar at the Conservatorio Statale “Vincenzo Bellini” of Caltanissetta within the framework of the Education in Progress Consortium, was an exceptionally enriching academic, artistic and professional experience.

The mobility offered me the opportunity to engage directly with students, faculty and staff in an international university environment, creating a valuable space for dialogue and exchange between different educational and cultural perspectives. Beyond teaching, I had the opportunity to share my research and artistic work through a lecture recital, presenting aspects of my academic and performance activity, as well as a solo concert and a further performance with a string quartet at the University Theatre. These encounters allowed me to explore new approaches to teaching and performance while also receiving valuable feedback from colleagues and students.

An equally important aspect of the mobility was the opportunity to become more closely acquainted with the university’s academic structure and international dimension. Visiting the campus, meeting faculty members and discussing current and future opportunities for international cooperation provided a broader understanding of the role that higher education institutions can play in developing sustainable international partnerships.

The experience also strengthened my conviction that Erasmus+ mobility is not simply a means of academic exchange, but a powerful instrument for building long-term relationships between institutions, professionals and students. The connections established during my stay at Central Michigan University represent a valuable basis for future collaborations in teaching, research, artistic projects and international initiatives.

I am particularly grateful to Central Michigan University and to the Education in Progress Consortium for making this experience possible. The mobility significantly enriched my professional perspective and gave me new ideas, contacts and inspiration that I hope to bring back to my institution and transform into further opportunities for international cooperation.
