Erasmus Traineeship Report – Netherlands

Erasmus Traineeship Report – Netherlands

From the 25th to the 31st, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in an Erasmus Traineeship in the Netherlands. This experience was both enriching and educational,
providing me with valuable insights and skills.

October 25-26: Eindhoven Design Week

I began my journey by attending the Design Week in Eindhoven on the 25th and 26th. This event was a highlight of my trip, as I was able to immerse myself in a wide array of innovative
and creative designs. The exhibitions showcased cutting-edge work from designers around the world, and I was particularly impressed by the diversity and ingenuity on display. The experience broadened my understanding of contemporary design trends and inspired me greatly.

October 27: Exploring Rotterdam
On the 27th, we traveled to Rotterdam, where we spent the day exploring the city. Rotterdam’s modern architecture and vibrant cultural scene made a lasting impression on me. We visited
several landmarks, including the iconic Cube Houses and the Erasmus Bridge, which provided a deeper appreciation for the city’s unique urban landscape.

October 28-30: Workshops at Studio Deronners
From the 28th to the 30th, I participated in three intensive workshops at Studio Deronners. These workshops were focused on different aspects of design and were incredibly formative:
• October 28: The first workshop centered on shapes with the theme “Radical.” We explored various geometric forms and their applications in design, pushing the
boundaries of conventional aesthetics.
• October 29: The second workshop was dedicated to typography with the theme “Positivity.” We delved into the art of type design, learning how to convey positive messages through typographic choices.
• October 30: The final workshop combined both shapes and typography under the theme “Change.” This session challenged us to integrate our learnings from the previous days to create cohesive and impactful designs.
Throughout these workshops, I was tasked with creating three posters, each reflecting the themes and techniques we studied. This hands-on experience was invaluable, allowing me to refine my design skills and think more critically about my creative process.

October 31: Exhibition of Our Work
On the 31st, we had the opportunity to exhibit our work. This exhibition was a culmination of our efforts and a chance to showcase the posters we had created during the workshops.
Presenting my work to peers and mentors was a rewarding experience, as it provided constructive feedback and recognition for my efforts. The exhibition also allowed me to see the diverse approaches and interpretations of my fellow participants, further enriching my understanding of design.
Overall, this Erasmus Traineeship was a transformative experience that significantly enhanced my design capabilities and broadened my professional horizons. I am grateful for the opportunity and look forward to applying what I have learned in my future projects.
